WEAVE ICT Training and Documentation Coordinator

DURATION: 2.5 years
REPORTING TO: Country Director
Nascent Solutions Zambia is currently implementing a USAID funded program – Women Empowered to Fight AIDS and Violence Everywhere (WEAVE). WEAVE is designed to build capacity of 12,000 women in the Mpika District of Northern Province, Zambia, to prevent and respond to HIV and AIDS, gender based violence and to start managing economically rewarding and sustainable small businesses.
Nascent Solutions Zambia WEAVE project in Mpika is now seeking for a qualified Women’s Empowerment Program Officer, and an Information Technology and Documentation Coordinator to develop and implement its entrepreneurship training program and assist women to start and manage economically rewarding businesses.
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop and implement an Information Communication Technology (ICT) program and increase the ability of women to start and manage economically rewarding businesses in information technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide recommendations on the best way to set up a computer lab in Mpika,
- Installation of equipment, internet solutions, and computer network,
- Installation, maintenance and technical evaluation of all hardware and operating systems,
- Ensure technical expertise on the selection, procurement and distribution of hardware and software,
- Technical support and equipment maintenance,
- Develop basic IT curricular: introduction to computing; MS word; MS excel; and introduction to internet,
- Delivering IT training programs and hands-on coaching to women in a group classroom setting,
- Provide sustainable innovative solutions for the women’s groups IT small businesses,
- Able to provide data entry services for the WEAVE project and generate analysis reports,
- Work with the Program Officer Women’s Empowerment in the documentation of WEAVE project activities, achievements, success stories and others,
- Build and improve business skills and knowledge among women to start and improve their own ICT income generation businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES QUALITIFCATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelors’ degree, or academic equivalent in the fields of computer science, information systems management,
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to women’s empowerment, GBV and HIV/AIDS prevention and response,
- Have demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team,
- Excellent project management skills,
- Similar work done preferably in a rural setting,
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills,
- Innovation,
- Proficiency in Bemba.
Program Officer – Women’s Empowerment

To develop and implement entrepreneurship training program tailored to the needs of poor rural women to start managing economically rewarding and sustainable small businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide training to Empowerment Workers and women groups’ leaders in village banking/savings, micro-enterprise establishment, business planning and management to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of traditional financial systems,
- Build and improve business skills and knowledge among women to start and improve their own income generation businesses,
- Provide training to empowerment workers in group formation and management, leadership, gender based violence and HIV and AIDS prevention and response,
- Provide training in record keeping, book-keeping, budgeting, basic accounting and financial management for business monitoring and transparency,
- Support program coordinators to facilitate the establishment of linkages among women’s groups within and across the target constituencies for sharing of lessons, opportunities and enhance support for women’s participation and groups,
- Monitor and evaluate training provision and assess its short and long-term social and economic impact on the beneficiaries,
- Complete in a timely fashion all necessary project reports that pertain to WEAVE project activities, results/benefits to target group,
- Work with project coordinators and the empowerment workers to develop and conduct information campaign programs to raise awareness on rights and responsibilities in the prevention and response to gender based and HIV/AIDS among women, men, partners and community leaders,
- Develop/adapt and translate training materials into Bemba.
RESPONSIBILITIES QUALITIFCATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to women’s empowerment, GBV and HIV/AIDS prevention and response,
- Excellent project management skills,
- Have demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in challenging rural conditions,
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in the field of training in self-help/micro-enterprise, management and capacity building especially for vulnerable groups,
- A degree in business administration, education, economics, finance, development, organizational development or human resources management,
- Expertise in designing, managing and implementing training programs in the financial services development and micro-enterprise field,
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills,
- Expertise in monitoring and evaluation,
- Cultural, gender and age sensitivity towards the target beneficiaries, and with a positive mindset,
- Basic computer skills,
- Proficiency in Bemba.
