Background:

 Founded in 2004, Nascent Solutions is a non-profit, international development and humanitarian organization dedicated to building capacity for vulnerable people especially women and youth in Rural Africa to live self-fulfilling lives. We do this by building the capacity of target communities and local partners in the areas of agriculture and food security, literacy and skills development, basic health and child care and the protection of the rights of the woman and the child.

 Nascent Solutions is seeking highly motivated young professional to fill the position of Project Assistant in a four month pilot project Funded by the World Food Program. The project is developed to provide basic education to farmers and grazers especially CAR refugees and indigenes in the Kette Sub-by on methods of securing farmland as well as strategies of creating and managing of improved pasture;

 Main responsibilities:

The Project Assistant will serve as the link agent between project and the target communities, support and follow up project activities the designated zone. The incumbent will collaborate with staff of partner organizations to ensure the effective implementation of all project activities.

 Specific areas of responsibility include:

 -       Assist in sensitizing the farmers and grazers

-       Coordinate and follow up the construction of infrastructure as per the recommended standards and norms.

-       Ensure the mobilization of the community about role and effective participation in the works to be realized.

-       Periodically follow up the proper execution of tasks and report to technical staff

-       Follow up commodities and assist the management committee in the proper recording and keeping of management documents.

-       Participate in the distribution of take home rations.

-       Collect data for technical staff.

-       Identify capacity strengthening needs through a participatory manner  with the farmer communities and assist them in their strategic planning ;

-        Facilitate the training sessions

-       Ensure the proper application of acquired knowledge and evaluate its impact on the farms  

 Attributes

 Must have a good knowledge of rural population and experience in adult training.

• Be capable of riding a big motorbike Yamaha D.T 125
• Good command of French
•  Good knowledge of the East region of Cameroon
• Willingness to travel and to work under pressure

  Qualifications:

• Should have a First Degree in the social sciences or any other relevant  qualification

• Previous work experience in development is a plus.
