Duration: Five (5) years

Reports to: Country Director

Nascent Solutions, Inc. is a Virginia based international humanitarian and development

non-profit organization founded in 2004. The mission of the Organization is to build capacity for vulnerable people especially women and youth in rural Africa to assume responsibility of their lives.

Nascent is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Administrative Assistant to provide high quality support to the program staff, coordinate and monitor work processes and activities to ensure management decisions and directives are properly carried out.

Specific Duties

  • Develop and implement office procedures and guidelines to ensure smooth and efficient business operations.
  • Monitor and follow up on issues and priorities; handle incoming correspondence and internal and external queries; draft and handle routine correspondence.
  • Orient new staff at all levels regarding organizational policies, administrative procedures, work guidelines, and ethics.
  • Plan and manage support services and resources to meet the needs of the programs.
  • Independently monitor and review work programs and schedules.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for human resources transactions and administration in consultation with the Country Director.

Qualification, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of an associate degree in relevant field.
  • A good knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping will be a plus.
  • Proficiency in information technology skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to process, handle and communicate matters of a sensitive and confidential nature, ability to deal effectively with staff, clients, and external contacts at all levels.
  • High degree of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, independence, reliability, adaptability, motivation, judgment, and flexibility.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent work relations in a team environment.
  • Proven skills in delivering work through efficient and effective planning and administration, including demonstrated administrative abilities, organization, problem-solving, personnel management, analysis and decision making.
  • Ability to handle concurrent activities, prioritize work, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in information technology skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • French language competency is a requirement.
