Senior Staff
Management Staff
With a workforce of more than 70 men and women, as well as dozens of volunteers in five countries, Nascent Solutions staff members are as diverse as the projects we implement and the talents necessary to accomplish our mission.
Senior Management Staff include:
Beatrice Wamey PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer
Beatrice’s commitment to improving the lot of the underserved in Africa is legendary among her friends and family. She ascribes this to her upbringing in the tiny mountain village of Lum-Oku, in the north west of Cameroon. Her father died when she was just 12, her two older sisters had already left home and she grew up with her widowed mother as her friend and companion. Walking 12 miles to and from school everyday, and helping her mother raise the money that would be needed when she left for secondary school served as a life lesson for perseverance, self-sufficiency and the ability of the very poor to attain ostensibly unattainable goals.
Today, that little girl from a small mountain village is the founder of Nascent Solutions, holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from the University of Indiana at Bloomington, a Masters degree in Linguistics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Il, a Diploma in Education from the Higher Teacher’s College and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature both from the University of Yaounde, Cameroon. In the interim she blazed several trails, among which was that of the only female member of the first education board in Cameroon, which was created after a protracted struggle waged by the Teachers’ Association of Cameroon, of which she was the only female executive member at the time.
No wonder she considers her life and her achievements a model that can very well be emulated by countless little girls and boys that are weighed down by the burden of poverty in villages all across Africa.
